This painting depicts an imagined troposphere composed of naturally, and unnaturally, occurring clouds. Mounted unstretched on the wall, the painting acts as a backdrop for a projection which introduces news headlines, social media comments, and other words rendered in the artist’s handwriting. These carefully selected telecommunications, harvested from the internet live, form a perpetual stream of digital content, as if these communications were a natural phenomenon in themselves. Although the texts are intentionally difficult to read, they contain the urgency of much of today’s news, as well as the absurdity and the misinformation pervasive on the internet. What do these ubiquitous messages do to the world, and our understanding of it?
