Five different maps of North Adams are woven together to create a moving portrait of the land. Topographical maps of North Adams from 1948 to 1997 are systematically moved across the wall, perfectly aligned. As the maps move between the spaces marked on the wall, it is possible to see the subtle changes to the environment over time (roads, structures and also the differences in map making styles over the years). Dotted lines derived from maps create arbitrary boundaries to contain the video projections. The artist often uses this and other techniques to obscure where the real edge of the projections are, relying instead on imposed boundaries and the architecture of the space.
