Two works of different media, a traditional painting and a video, displayed together on a flat screen monitor casually placed on the floor. The painting contains a cartoon-like depiction of a plume of smoke, a recurring theme in the artist’s work. The plume could be seen as symbol, perhaps an injury to the landscape, or a wound to the culture. The monitor displays television static, interspersed with digitized details from 19th century landscape paintings.
